The Cottage is a romantic hideaway just a stroll from the beach in the village of Downderry and a short walk from Seaton. As soon as you arrive you begin to relax.
With a granite fireplace, traditional cottage features and an extensive south facing decked areas, it is the perfect place to relax on a warm summers night overlooking the sea.
The very secluded decked area is ideal for a private bbq or sundowners with friends & family.
Whatever the weather there is a luxurious, spacious living area to enjoy snuggling up with a roaring fire or just to sit and relax with a book, and take it all in after a long day on the beach with the kids.
Blow away the cobwebs – grab your bike/ kayak once you’ve finished your working day and head off along the amazing coastline.

It really is a retreat from everyday life.
We are dog friendly – so bring them too.

The Cottage has everything a self catering cottage needs for a trip away with family or friends or even a business trip in nearby Plymouth. It is within easy commute of Plymouth .

Suitable for longer stays as it has everything you could need including
fully stocked kitchen appliances, iron , ironing board, fridge,freezer, washing machine & a dedicated work space. Also a garage to park your car off the road.

This entire home is yours to truly enjoy and live like the locals.

INFORMATION

I live nearby and I am on hand should guests require anything to make they stay more comfortable. Just give me a call and I will do all I can to help.

I have lived in the village for over twenty years, have local knowledge and am able to recommend places of interest and great places to eat. For your convenience I offer a key safe lockbox to access keys or I could possibly be available to greet you should you require it. I will always try to welcome guests shortly after arrival if possible.

There are 17 steps to access the upper secluded decking area. With a hand rail.

Children are welcome. A high chair, cot ,baby monitor and booster seat and spare cot bedding are all available upon request. There are low beams in areas . 6ft 4” to the lowest point.
Low Chandeliers in the bedrooms (mind your heads)

PARKING

There is a garage to park one vehicle in directly opposite the cottage.
Vehicle max 4.8m long(Green door) Also Free on street parking is available 100-150 meters            (1 minute walk) from the property & pay display nearby.
You can stop outside the property or in garage to unload/load/drop off. It is a narrow rural road but cars can pass whilst you offload your bags.

HOUSE RULES

Please keep the property clean and tidy and all dishes to be washed and put away on checkout.
Dogs on request only at an additional cost. (There is no grass)Dogs not to be left alone in the house or upstairs / on furniture & dried off before entering the property.

LOCAL AREA

South East Cornwall offers some of the most amazing beaches. You are spoilt for choice for sandy beaches Downderry, Seaton, Millendreath Whitsands, Cawsands, Looe, Portwrinkle are too name but a few.

Downderry is a very popular holiday location for families/couples/cyclists & dog walkers throughout the year. It has its very own micro climate. Perfect for long lazy walks /paddle boarding/kayaking/swimming & snorkelling. Safe beach and wonderful rock pooling for the kids.
We have an active community with a post office/general store/local pub, outstanding restaurant, doctors and vegan cafe.
You can walk along Downderry beach to Seaton beach with its bistro beach bars / cafes / toilet /children play area.
Outstanding coastal walks with panoramic sea views in all directions.

Bus services into Plymouth. A train station is located at St Germans just a ten minute drive away. Superb coastal walks from the cottage towards Rame Head and Looe.
Adventure Bay Surf School , just 6miles away, offer surfing lessons at Whitsand Bay with its golden beaches.
Stylish Kingsand/Cawsand & Looe are just 8miles away. Sailing and fishing at Looe with its narrow streets, gift shops, pubs and harbour.
The Coddy Shack (10min drive) the best fish &chip shop/restaurant & offers live music & bar.
The Monkey sanctuary is located a few miles along the coast and is a great day out.
Perfect base for visiting local National Trust properties.
Close by is Mount Edgecumbe Country Park which has a stately home and gardens to explore as well as a restaurant in its orangery. From there you can catch the Cremyll foot ferry to Royal William Yard (which is over the river Tamar) into Plymouth. It is a former vittating yard which has been converted into stunning restaurants, bars and shops. Well worth a visit.
The Plymouth Hoe and the Barbican area of Plymouth is also worth a visit, the view of Plymouth sound is fantastic. Try a horse and cart ride to the harbour in the car-free village of Polperro other popular quaint Cornish coastal villages include Fowey & Polruan. To avoid parking headaches park at Polruan and catch the foot ferry across to Fowey. (everything is within walking distance)
Eden project is a 45minute drive away and access to the North Coast is about an hour.

Kayaks can be hired from the cottage at an extra cost. Please enquire before you arrive if you would like to hire these.

Large super markets can be found 20mins drive from the property at Liskeard (Morrisons) Saltash (Waitrose/Lidl) .
Plymouth (Sainsbury’s/Tesco/Asda) Most offer an online shopping facility.

Health & Safety

I will be allowing self checkin only and cleaning in accordance to covid regulation. The Cottage has it’s own private entrance.
